Overview

BrightView is a rapidly growing healthcare organization specializing in patient-focused, outpatient addiction treatment. Committed to our mission, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced professional to join our leadership team as the Vice President of Laboratory Operations.

 

The Vice President of Laboratory Operations provides overall management, operation, and administrative leadership for all laboratory staff. The Vice President of Laboratory Operations serves as a liaison between the laboratory, medical providers, and executive team. This position works directly with the quality assurance and quality control departments to ensure efficient and compliant operation of the laboratory. The Vice President is focused on achieving all service and operational goals and metrics for the laboratory through the introduction and development of monitoring systems and processes, employment of appropriately qualified personnel, procurement of equipment, safety procedures, and analytical assessment of current performance.

Responsibilities

· STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP

  • o Develop and execute a strategic vision for laboratory services aligned with organizational goals.
  • o Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate laboratory services into overall business strategy.

· MULTI-STATE OPERATIONS

  • o Oversee laboratory operations in multiple states, ensuring consistent quality and compliance.
  • o Facilitate the proper handling and removal of biohazardous and chemical waste and establish contacts as appropriate.
  • o Maintain working knowledge of health and safety procedures/regulations including but not limited to bloodborne pathogen training, first aid, and CPR.
  • o Lead the laboratory LIS integration to an owned platform.
  • o Define, track, and report KPIs to ensure competitive and operational efficiency.
  • o Improve turnaround time to standards competitive with outside vendors to ensure patient and business function needs are met or exceeded.

· REGULATORY COMPLIANCE

  • o Ensure all technical and compliance requirements are met for TJC, CLIA, CMS, and other regulatory organizations as appropriate.
  • o Ensure compliance with regulatory standards across all states of operation.
  • o Collaborate with regulatory affairs to navigate state-specific laboratory requirements.

· QUALITY MANAGEMENT

  • o Implement and monitor quality assurance and quality control processes.
  • o Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance laboratory performance.
  • o Ensure laboratory safety and compliance and respond to laboratory emergencies appropriately.
  • o Update and institute new laboratory policy and procedure as appropriate.
  • o Manage the Toxicology testing and reporting expectations of our Outreach Team and Court system Referral Partners.

· TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • o Hire, manage, and develop a high-performance team of laboratory professionals.
  • o Provide leadership and guidance to regional laboratory directors and staff.
  • o Guide the training of laboratory personnel at all center locations throughout the BrightView network.
  • o Ensure Laboratory staff goal setting is aligned with company goals and objectives.

· FINANCIAL PLANNING AND BUDGETING

  • o Develop and manage laboratory budgets in coordination with finance teams.
  • o Partner with Accounting and Finance to develop and maintain comprehensive Lab Reporting Package to track appropriate metrics and efficiencies.
  • o Optimize cost-efficiency while maintaining high-quality laboratory services.
  • o Manage the purchasing processes for the laboratory with the focus on having high-quality suppliers that deliver favorable cost savings year over year.

· TECHNOLOGY INTEGRATION

  • o Oversee the integration and utilization of laboratory information systems.
  • o Leverage technology to enhance efficiency and streamline laboratory processes.

· OTHER DUTIES

  • o Serve as a liaison between laboratory services, medical providers, and regional healthcare teams.
  • o Collaborate with healthcare providers to align laboratory services with patient care objectives.
  • o Manage relationships with laboratory equipment and supplies vendors.
  • o Negotiate contracts and agreements to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • o Communicate regularly with executive leadership on laboratory performance.
  • o Develop and maintain comprehensive reporting mechanisms for key metrics.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • · Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field is required.
  • · Relevant Master’s Degree or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • · 6+ years of experience in laboratory management or a related field.
  • · Experience overseeing laboratory operations in a multi-state environment is preferred.
  • · Advanced IT training in Excel, Word, Access and other computer programming is preferred.
